Lisa DiGiovanni, DVM, MS

Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Surgery - Small Animal

Board Certified Veterinary Surgeon

Dr. DiGiovanni’s journey to becoming a veterinary surgeon began in the forests and foothills of Upstate New York, where she grew up exploring the outdoors and caring for animals. Her passion for veterinary medicine was shaped by a deep respect for animals and a lifelong curiosity about how to help them heal. She earned her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University, followed by a Master’s in Animal Science from Louisiana State University. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing her clinical year at Colorado State University.

After graduation, Dr. DiGiovanni completed a rotating internship at the University of Illinois and a surgical internship at VCA ASEC in Los Angeles. She then pursued a rigorous surgical residency at Kansas State University. Before joining Bark City, she spent three years in private specialty practice in Denver, where she refined her skills in complex orthopedic, emergency, and soft tissue procedures.

Dr. DiGiovanni has a particular passion for soft tissue surgery and has developed extensive experience managing complex oncologic and reconstructive cases. She routinely performs mass removals with sentinel lymph node mapping, advanced skin flap reconstruction, perineal hernia repair, TECA, and challenging abdominal and thoracic procedures. Her minimally invasive skill set includes laparoscopic spays and gastropexies. She takes pride in balancing surgical precision with thoughtful post-operative care, and she is always exploring new techniques to improve patient outcomes and recovery.

Her broad surgical expertise also includes TPLO, fracture repair, and neurologic procedures such as hemilaminectomy and ventral slot. Dr. DiGiovanni is committed to lifelong learning and is currently expanding her skillset in joint replacement surgery.

At the heart of her work is a dedication to compassionate, collaborative care. She works closely with both pet owners and referring veterinarians to ensure each patient receives the most thoughtful and personalized surgical plan possible. Dr. DiGiovanni is thrilled to be part of the Bark City team, working alongside Dr. Beale, Dr. Andrews, and Dr. Tulipan.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find her trail running, snowboarding, or camping in the mountains—with her dogs always by her side.
